Russell Horton lives and works from Katoomba NSW Australia. His gift for photography, is born of a high sense of visual awareness.
Since childhood he has expressed his unique view of his surrounds through hand drawn animation, and later a successful career in signwriting and digital graphics.
His love of outdoor adventure pursuits has lead him to New Zealand, Canada and the USA, and Russell has found photography an exciting medium for documenting his travel and sport.
Upon his return to Australia, he moved from his Canberra home to study Photo Imaging at the Western Sydney Institute of TAFE, Kingswood Campus.
In 2009 he graduated the Certificate 4 Photographic imaging course with distinction and was awarded "Highest Achievement & Best Portfolio".
Russell's acute eye for the elements of photography is the culmination of his love of art and technical training in his career.
His work ranges from eccentric views of architecture to street fashion and outdoor sports.
He finds inspiration in the abstract elements of his subject. He is a disciplined practitioner of his art, using the traditional principles of photography, to capture organic elements in an urban world. Digital manipulation is used to enhance the image rather than change. Resulting in his work being the complex sum of subtle elements.
Maturity in application of his art, born of a career in delivering images to clients specification in a busy commercial practice defines Russell's work ethic.
He believes that creativity must live harmoniously with a commitment to his clients requirements.
